Workers Comp Basics
Workers Comp claims must be job-related
Workers' compensation provides medical treatment, wage replacement and permanent disability compensation to employees who suffer job-related injuries or illnesses. There may also be a death benefit to dependents of workers who have died as a result of their employment.
If the claim is unrelated to the job, it is not a workers comp claim.
Workers comp offers protection to both employee and employer. Each covered employee has the right to benefits if injured on the job. In return, the employee forfeits the right to sue the employer for the job related injury.
